YOUNG @ HEART documents the true story of the final weeks of rehearsal for the Young@Heart Chorus in Northampton, MA, whose average age is 81, and many of whom must overcome health adversities to participate. Their music is unexpected, going against the stereotype of their age group, performing songs, for example, by James Brown and Sonic Youth. Although they have toured Europe and sang for royalty, this account focuses on preparing new songs, not an easy endeavor, for a concert in their home town, which succeeds in spite of several real heart breaking events.

I just got a new book it is the second in a series. The first one was called DOG ON IT by Spencer Quinn. It was a really good book! The story is told through the eyes of Chet a dog who works alongside Bernie, a down-on-his-luck private investigator. Thereby Hangs a Tail: A Chet and Bernie Mystery is the second book. I decided to use my Everyday Celebration kit for a gift. I made 3 of the thank you cards from the directions for card 3. For the other 3 cards I used card 2 and instead of Celebrate the Everyday I decided to use the January Stamp of the Month with the sentiment Real friends listen with their Heart.

Mexican Wedding Cookies

These cookies were delicious and pretty easy so I wanted to share! I got the recipe from all you magazine.
Mexican Wedding Cookies
1 stick of unsalted butter, room temp
1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/8 tsp salt
1/8 tsp cinnamon
1 cup walnuts or pecans- I used pecans
lightly toasted and ground
Preheat oven to 350. Line a baking sheet with parchment. Cream butter and 1/4 cup sugar until fluffy. Add vanilla, reduce speed and gradually add flour, salt and cinnamon. Stir in nuts. Roll dough into 1 inch balls and place 1 inch apart on baking sheet. Bake for 12 minutes. Let cool on rack for 5 minutes. Sift remaining sugar over warm cookies until well coated.
